PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    Pre-CanSkate - learn & play

The Pre-Canskate Program is 2 days a week, 30 minutes each day. Typically for 3, 4, 5 year olds, and runs during our CanSkate sessions.

The Pre-Canskate Program is an e
ntry level program that teaches basic skating skills to children, typical ages 3-5 years old. This program is for children who have never been on skates.  They will learn how to stand and fall on their own, as well as, very basic skating movements.

    CanSkate - learn & improve
Entry level programs that teach the basic skating skills to children, youth, and adults, typical ages 5 and up.
The programs provides the basics necessary to succeed in hockey, ringuette, speed skating, and figure skating.

This is a 6 stage badge program, where children will complete a series of balance, control and agility skills that will prepare skaters for any ice skating sport or recreational skating.

Once your child has completed all 6 Stages in CanSkate they can move into either of our Group 3 (Junior) or Group 2 (Intermediate) programs

The Saint John Skating Club also offers programs other than CanSkate. Once your child has completed all 6 Stages in CanSkate they can move into either our Group 3 (Junior) or Group 2 (Intermediate) programs. Our CanSkate coach will let you know when your child has mastered the necessary skills. These are Learn-to-Figure Skate programs which involve badges and formal Skate Canada tests. The difference between these two programs is cost and ice-time.

    Group 3 - Juniors
Skaters working on their Stage 6 of the CanSkate and can demonstrate a strong skating ability.

Skaters in the Junior program have more group oriented lessons than those in Intermediate. The Junior program registration fee includes a one half hour group lesson at each session. All lessons in the Intermediate program are billed by the base coach directly. Your registration fee at the beginning of the year only covers ice time. Once your child moves into one of these programs you must choose a base coach who will help guide you through your figure skating career.

    Group 2 - Intermediate
Skaters who have completed the Stage 6 badge of the CanSkate program and are working on an individual basis with coaches.

    Group 1 - Seniors
Skaters who meet the specific test criteria.

    Adults
You can define what skills you want to learn and work with coaches to improve upon them.
